Who's Living in the Trees

Last month, our Board President, Michael Bennett, visited the 2024 Virginia General Assembly to meet with delegates and senators, including our local representatives Delegate Shelly Simonds and Senator Mamie Locke. Delegate Simonds introduced the group to House members and read a statement explaining our purpose and the importance of nonprofits!

NetworkPeninsula has also been working w/ Delegate Simonds to develop a draft bill for 2025 to establish the Office for Nonprofit Success, which will include a Nonprofit Government Liaison!

NAVA - Nonprofit Allies of Virginia

Michael was joined by representatives of similar capacity-building groups across the Commonwealth, including Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Dan River Nonprofit Network. Together these groups represented the newly organized NAVA, created to shine a light on the significant economic impact of the nonprofit sector, as well as to seek support in building up this valuable sector so they can continue to provide vital services in our communities.
