Spring Cleanup Area 1

Spring Cleanup for Area 1 is this Saturday, April 20! During Spring Cleanup, Broomfield residents can dispose of large, non-hazardous items trash haulers do not normally pick up at NO CHARGE! Please do not put your items on the curb any earlier than 24 hours before your cleanup date. To reduce the amount of waste going to a landfill, ARC Thrift Store will provide pick-up of clothes and reusable items on the same day as the waste pick-up. Items should be placed in a visible location and labeled "ARC". Identify your area, view the list of acceptable items and learn more about properly disposing of household waste at Broomfield.org/SpringCleanUp.

National Prescription Drug Takeback Day

Dispose of your expired and unused medications free of charge! The Broomfield Police Department is once again partnering with Broomfield Public Health and Environment and the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Drop off your medications Saturday, April 27 between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Broomfield Police Department.

Mental Health Wellness Training

You can make a difference in your community’s mental health! Take the Introduction to Mental Health and Wellness training, where you will learn how to identify and respond to someone in mental distress. This training is great for anyone who wants to learn more about mental health and how to support someone you care about. This training will be held Monday, April 29 from 12–2 p.m. at Broomfield Library in the Eisenhower Room. Learn more and register at Broomfield.org/CIC.

Metzger Farm Open Space Wildland Fire Training Rescheduled

Rescheduled to April 22, 23 and 26, join the Westminster Fire Department as they conduct a wildland fire training at Metzger Farm (weather permitting). Fire crews will be simulating a wildfire incident on the property and practicing techniques for fire suppression. During the training, the public will see fire personnel and apparatus on site, and fire crews will be deploying hoses, utilizing wildland fire vehicles (brush trucks) and spraying water. No actual fire will be used. For questions contact the Wildlife Training Office at 303-658-4500 or fire@westminsterco.gov.

🌲 Tree Sale: Purchase a new tree at the annual Broomfield Parks, Recreation, and Senior Services tree sale. Broomfield Parks/Forestry will offer ten different species of trees that do well along the front range of Colorado. These trees are available to the Broomfield residents and CCOB employees, limit of two trees per household. Visit the Tree Information page for more details and to purchase your tree.

📖 High School Finals Study Space: High school students, do you need a place to prep for your finals? The Group Study Room will be reserved for students in grades 9–12, 4–8:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, April 15 through May 23. No reservation needed, just check in with the second floor desk to use the room.

🕺 Alternative Prom: Get ready to party after hours at the Broomfield Library for this unique Prom Alternative! This year's theme, "NO Theme, because it is more ALT" was selected by the Library's Teen Ambassador Board. Gather your friends, dance your heart out, have snacks, play games and show off your moves. Submit your song requests.

📰 Spring Paper Shred Event: Protect your identity while securely destroying your confidential items such as tax, medical and bank documents for free at the Spring Shred-It event. Broomfield residents can shred a maximum of three boxes of paperwork at the Shred-It event Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Shred-It will also take up to three 32-gallon trash bags of already shredded paper. 🧒 April is Child Abuse Awareness Month: There are more than 50 ways in which neighbors, community organizations, employers, people in the service industry, faith communities and any Coloradan can help strengthen families. In addition to doing their part to help strengthen families, all Coloradans are encouraged to call the CO4Kids Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline (1-844-CO-4-KIDS or 844-264-5437) if they are concerned a child may be experiencing abuse or neglect. 

🎭 Broomfield Out Loud Teen Storytelling and Creativity Workshop: Teens, are you interested in learning new techniques to expand your storytelling and creative abilities? If so, sign up for the Broomfield Out Loud teen Storytelling and Creativity workshop Wednesday, May 1 at 6 p.m. and dive into this interactive workshop with artists designed to ignite your imagination, discover more about yourself, and uncover the untold stories of our vibrant community. ♻️ Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Disposal Event: Make your appointment for the household hazardous and electronic waste drop-off event Saturday, May 4! Broomfield residents can drop off items such as aerosols, fertilizers, weedkillers, electronic waste and more at NO CHARGE! 🎵 Taylor Swift Pop Up Listening Party: Calling all Swifties! Celebrate the release of Taylor Swift's latest album at this library listening party! Have a marvelous time making friendship bracelets, creating blackout poetry and of course listening to the new album. Best believe we're still bejeweled, so baby, let the games begin! Drop in anytime between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 to enjoy the celebration! 

🎒 Free Rec Access for Middle Schoolers: Looking for a fun and safe after-school spot? Broomfield middle schoolers can access The Paul Derda Recreation Center and Broomfield Community Center for FREE after school! Show your Broomfield middle school I.D. for entry Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. (and stay as long as you’d like!). Thank you to the Broomfield Communities that Care Coalition and Broomfield Recreation Services for making this program possible.
