🌻 G.R.I.T. (Gardens, Relationships, Impact, Teamwork) Teen Garden Program: Are you a teenager who loves to garden and get your hands dirty? The G.R.I.T. Teen Gardening Program (ages 13-18) is a pilot teen gardening program for Broomfield and Westminster teens at the Metzger Farm Victory Garden. Apply For The G.R.I.T. ⚕️ Syphilis Screening: Are you pregnant? Starting April 25, your healthcare provider must offer you a syphilis screening during your first and third trimester, as well as at the time of delivery. This offering is mandated by a new statewide Public Health Order 24-01, which was announced by Governor Polis in response to an increase in congenital syphilis cases in babies in Colorado. Untreated congenital syphilis in babies can be deadly. If you have questions, talk to your healthcare provider. Read the state press release.
🧠 Mental Health and Wellness Training: You can make a difference in your community’s mental health! Take the Introduction to Mental Health and Wellness training, where you will learn how to identify and respond to someone in mental distress. This is a summer-long program designed for incoming 8th to 11th graders to go on guided tours of businesses across various industries, providing insight into potential career pathways at no cost. ❤️ Broomfield FISH Volunteer Opportunity: Broomfield FISH is looking for volunteers to help out Saturday, May 11, for their largest food drive of the year, Stamp Out Hunger! Volunteers are needed at the Broomfield Main Post Office, Broomfield Eagle View Post Office, Northglenn Post Office and at FISH. If you cannot volunteer, you can still support the drive by leaving non-perishable food donations out by your mailbox that morning for your postal carrier to collect on their route. Learn more.
🌾 The 200 Year Historic Journey Through World War II Germany to the Broomfield Wottge Open Space: Join Fred Martin, local historian, for the presentation of courageous revival and story of the Wottge family that goes back 200 years to their farm in Germany. Stop by the Crescent Grange Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Guyleen Castriotta will also participate in the presentation by video message.
