LookoutAlert System Wide Test

On Wednesday, May 29, LookoutAlert will be conducting a test of its emergency notification system. All landline phone numbers in Broomfield should receive a test alert. Residents who have registered for LookoutAlert will also receive a test alert via text message, email and/or cell phone call. Residents are encouraged to sign up to ensure they are alerted immediately when an emergency or potentially hazardous situation occurs. Residents who were previously registered with CodeRED are also encouraged to go to the LookoutAlert platform to update their personal information.

Broomfield Trail Adventure

Celebrate National Trails Day by hiking or biking in the vicinity of Centennial Elementary, Saturday, June 1 from 8-10 a.m.! This annual event features a new trail section each year and serves as the Broomfield 100 kick-off. Great for all ages and ability levels, please bring sturdy walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water and sunscreen!

PD Listening Sessions

Share your experiences interacting with the Broomfield police, potential concerns and how you think police engagement in Broomfield can be improved at the first BPD listening session. The session will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the Broomfield Community Center (280 Spader Way, Broomfield, CO 80020). Light dinner and childcare will be provided and all participants will be entered into a prize drawing. To participate, visit BroomfieldVoice.com/PDListens and RSVP. RSVPs close June 10.

Broomfield ZeroFare

Broomfield’s ZeroFare Summer is still happening! You may have heard RTD had to cancel “Zero Fare Summer” due to state budget constraints. However, Broomfield’s FlexRide ZeroFare is funded by the City and County of Broomfield. Broomfield’s ZeroFare promotion on the RTD FlexRide is running June, July and August, so everyone rides at no cost! Visit Broomfield.org/FlexRide to find your route and book online through the link to RTD. Or book your ride with RTD by calling 303-299-6000; booking is available in multiple languages. Ask the RTD operator for an interpreter for your preferred language.

Summer Concert Series: ZIMbira

Kick off the Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. and revel in the traditional and contemporary music of Zimbabwe at Redpoint Ridge Park. The music is grounded in the ancient repertoire of the mbira and the beat of the hosho shaker. ZiMBiRa brings numerous sounds to the stage as a 10-piece genre-defying band playing music steeped in traditional music sure to lead the audience into motion when they hear the intoxicating, rhythmic and melodic sounds. The songs and grooves are unique, captivating and most of all, uplifting allowing for shows to be fun for any age and background.

🏳️‍🌈 CCOB Celebrates Pride Month: Broomfield strives to become a place where every person is valued, respected and safe to be their authentic selves. The Broomfield community is welcome to attend the Inclusivity Flag raising at the George DiCiero City and County Building at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 31. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office will also be offering rainbow paper for marriage licenses and souvenir pens for couples getting married in June.

📖 Summer Library Adventures: Sign up for this Reading and Activity Challenge for ALL AGES today! Summer Library Adventures begins June 1! Read 20 days or complete 20 activities (or mix and match) throughout June and July to earn prizes! Register at broomfield.beanstack.org!

Hand It In: No judgment, no hassle; just trade in your vape for a healthier habit! Teens: bring your vape or other tobacco device to the Paul Derda Recreation Center June 3 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and get a Summer Recreation Pass for the Broomfield Community Center, Paul Derda Recreation Center and The Bay! 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Kids Nite Out: The Broomfield Community Center (BCC) is open year round on Friday nights until 8 p.m. The Paul Derda Recreation Center (PDRC) closes at 6:30 p.m. during the school year for the Kids Nite Out program. Since the BCC offers many of the same amenities as the PDRC, the PDRC Friday night hours will remain the same this summer, with the building closing at 6:30 p.m.

🔥 Metzger Farm Open Space Wildland Fire Training - RESCHEDULED: Take a visit to the rescheduled wildland fire training conducted by the Westminster FIre Department at Metzger Farm May 27, 30 and June 1. The fire crews will be simulating a wild fire incident on the property and practicing techniques for fire suppression. During the training, the public will see fire personnel and apparatus on site, and fire crews will be deploying hoses, utilizing wildland fire vehicles (brush trucks) and spraying water. 🧠 Youth Mental Health First Aid Training: This training is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people and will learn about common mental health challenges for youth, typical adolescent development and a five-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. This training is free and open to all who live or work in Broomfield and will be held June 14 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at A Precious Child. 

Coffee with a Cop: Kickoff summer with the Broomfield Police Department at Coffee with a Cop at Kataluma Chai in Flatiron Crossing Mall! Stop by for free coffee, cookies and a BPD coffee mug Thursday, June 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Kataluma Chai located at 1 West Flatiron Crossing Dr. #2253 inside the Flatiron Crossing Mall.

🍅 Broomfield FISH Teaching Garden: Celebrate the grand opening of the Broomfield FISH teaching garden at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in partnership with the Broomfield Area Chamber Thursday, June 6 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at 6 Garden Center. There will be light refreshments and plenty of great company! FISH's garden will provide fresh, healthy food for neighbors in need, promote equitable food access and foster community engagement in their mission.

💡 Home Electrification Workshop: Electrifying your home and ride can take some time, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Join the second 1, 2, 3, Electrify! Workshop June 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Louisville Recreation and Senior Center and learn how you can start planning for home electrification. Topics will include setting electrification goals, identifying opportunities, determining your panel’s capacity and identifying first-step investments in energy efficiency, electric equipment and renewable energy. Register for the workshop.

🏳️‍🌈 Broomfield Pride: Join Rainbow Broomfield at Broomfield Community Park (behind the library!) for a day filled with fun, love, and celebration Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Community Park Shelter behind the Library. This free in-person event is all about embracing who you are and showing your support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Get ready for live music, free face painting, delicious food trucks, local vendors and so much more.
