Community Responds to Increased Need for Food Donations as Record Numbers of Clients Visit Holly Springs Food Cupboard for Assistance

If you are reading this, it is very likely that you are one of the reasons the Holly Springs Food Cupboard is able to keep its doors open. Because of people like you - people who have a heart for those in need - the Holly Springs Food Cupboard is able to keep distributing food to those in need.

In September, the Holly Springs Food Cupboard continued to serve record numbers of clients. We used to serve around 50 client households a week just a year ago, but lately we have been serving more than 70 households a week. In late September, we served 93 households in one week alone. The increase in need for our service, and our increase in need for donations is significant.

On August 29, we asked for help as we were in critical need of canned vegetables and soup. Three days later, on September 1, the response from our community was jaw-dropping. The Cupboard received more than 4,700 pounds of donated non-perishable food on that day alone (see photos below)! Additionally, 27 packages with food from our Amazon Charity List, were waiting for us at the post office! So many people found so many different ways to help, including the Strausser children, who opened a lemonade stand and raised more than $100 with the support of Trinity Creek neighbors.

While the number of pounds of food donated has increased tremendously, so has the number of clients we serve, as the charts below illustrate. Thank you for helping as you are able. Thank you for continuing to respond to a very real need in our community.

A major shout out to Leigh Brantley and CrossFit Contrivance, and Cariann Colman of Cariann's Creations for significant food donations last month.

Many thanks to Keller Williams Legacy for purchasing chicken for distributions. Thank you!

Many thanks to everyone who donated food at the community movies hosted by FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies; Jacobs, the engineering and construction management company building the Fujifilm plant; and Town of Holly Springs Parks & Recreation!

John Wood from Holly Springs Rotary, ready to deliver food to households!
