I am pleased to announce new University of Scranton information resources for area residents, nonprofits and local businesses.  This is the first edition of a regular e-newsletter that will help keep you updated on everything that's happening at the University, from progress on building projects to the events coming up this month.  

The e-newsletter is part of a new Community Relations website: www.scranton.edu/community. This site is a comprehensive source on the many activities the University has to offer, including lectures and performances, health and educational programs and marketing opportunities for local businesses.  Read more about these new resources here.  

These new online tools are just one way for us to share information with all of you, and to hear your questions and suggestions.  Please send us your feedback and  the new site and newsletter with your friends, family and colleagues.

The University is proud to be a part of the City of Scranton and the Northeastern Pennsylvania area.  This is one small way to give back to a community that has given us so much.

The unified science center will serve as the new home for all the natural sciences research and instruction at the University. This building is set to open in fall 2011. Meanwhile, take a visual tour of the building to see the progress that is being made.

Connect with the University Through New Mobile App & Website

Smartphone users can connect more easily with The University of Scranton thanks to a new app and mobile website designed for the iPhone and Android. The new University of Scranton app and mobile website, which launched in March, give users access to University news, videos, sports scores and more - all in the palm of their hand. read more 

Special Event

Chinese Opera Offers Unique Cultural Opportunity

This Friday, April 15 at 7:30pm, The University presents a performance of "Bond," an adaptation of William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice," by the Taiwan Bangzi Opera Company. The event, to be held at the Scranton Cultural Center, is offered free of charge as a gift from the University to the local community. Featuring world-renowned saxophonist, and Grammy-nominated composer and arranger Ted Nash, free, Houlihan-McLean Center. read more 

April 19: Earth Week Fair, 11am-2pm
Local green businesses and organizations are invited to participate in this interactive fair, free, Dionne Campus Green. Call 941-7520.

April 27: Math Integration Bee, 3pm
The University's Mathematics Department hosts this annual bee where students calculate integrals instead of spelling words, free, McIlhenny Ballroom, DeNaples Center. read more 

April 30-May1: Weinberg Memorial Library Annual Book & Plant Sale
Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library will host this annual sale, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday, Heritage Room, Weinberg Memorial Library. read more

May 6: Hispanic Puppet Show, 4:30pm
The Department of World Languages and Cultures will present this special Hispanic Puppet Show, ages 5 and up, free, 4th floor Moskovitz Theater, DeNaples Center.  view flyer
