A note from our Executive Director

As I reflect back to the beginning of 2021, I remember being hopeful that the scientific and medical advances related to COVID-19 would provide some relief and return towards normalcy. Yet, as we enter 2022, we still find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic. Community pharmacists and their teams have stepped up at every turn, delivering critical services to their communities by engaging in COVID-19 vaccine administration, testing, and treatments. The Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) is proud to have had the opportunity to fund important resources, made available through Flip the Pharmacy, which have supported many community pharmacies as they engaged in these activities. CPF is grateful to the community pharmacists and their teams for all they have done and continue to do for their patients and communities.
Despite the day-to-day uncertainty we find ourselves in during this pandemic, we continue to be hopeful for the future. CPF board members will engage in strategic planning at the upcoming February meeting. They are excited to discuss how to focus the energy and resources of the Foundation to advance the practice of pharmacy in the community pharmacy setting. They will reflect on how to maximize current programs like Flip the Pharmacy, the ACT Pharmacy Collaborative, and RAPID Alliance, while continuing to support new, innovative grants. They will also take time to reflect on the current body of work that has been funded by CPF to ensure we make the most of the quality deliverables and insights learned from completed grants and projects.
CFP is committed to providing resources for research and development to encourage new capabilities and continuous improvements in the delivery of patient care. Our hope is that this will result in a healthier population that values the pharmacist as an essential health care team member. If you have an idea that will help us accomplish this, click here to submit an application.

Spotlight
A total of 33 pharmacists and student pharmacists were selected to receive the $1000 Incentive Grants that annually provide seed funds to initiate or sustain innovative community-based projects that advance pharmacist-delivered patient care services. CPF supports 14 of these incentive grants and a new learning extension through a grant to the APhA Foundation.
Congratulations to all the 2022 PQA Board appointees, including Community Pharmacy Foundation Board Members Matt Osterhaus and Linda Garrelts MacLean.
Attention Previous/Current Grantees

The RAPID Alliance is looking forward to an exciting 2022 as we continue our journey to optimize medication use for everyone in the United States by 2032. 42 universities are now signed up in the RAPID Alliance research network. With support from CPF, the RAPID Alliance Community Pharmacy Transformation Initiative is moving forward, with an initial focus on rapidly gathering evidence to support payment and practice transformation for community pharmacies in the United States.
Preparations for the RAPID Alliance Summit this Spring are also underway. If you would like to learn more, or get involved, please visit www.rapidalliance.org.
