Note From Principal Atkins

Stedman Families,

Today kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month, a celebratory time that is near and dear to us as we have so many community members with a deep history in Hispanic and Latino culture. We will be highlighting some of our friends throughout the month, stay tuned!

We also were able to share in a beautiful ceremony with Grupo Tlaloc to jump start Hispanic Heritage Month. We'll share some videos of the experience on the Stedman News next week.

Picture Day is Monday! Be sure to use the link below to order photos or send your child in with the order form and payment.

As a reminder, we are required to hold a Lockdown Drill within the first 30 days of school. If your child has anxiety around these, please discuss this with them in anticipation of the drill. Our mental health team is always available for support.

Don't forget that Friday, September 22nd, is a planning day for teachers in DPS - this means that students do NOT have school again on Friday. Please remember to mark this on your calendars.

As a Master's Degree recipient from the University of Colorado at Boulder, I'd be remiss if I didn't shout GO BUFFS! ;)

Hoy comienza el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, un momento de celebración que nos resulta cercano y querido porque tenemos tantos miembros de la comunidad con una profunda historia en la cultura hispana y latina. Destacaremos a algunos de nuestros amigos a lo largo del mes, ¡estén atentos!

También pudimos compartir una hermosa ceremonia con Grupo Tláloc para dar inicio al Mes de la Herencia Hispana. Compartiremos algunos videos de la experiencia en Stedman News la próxima semana.

¡El día de la fotografía es el lunes! Asegúrese de utilizar el enlace a continuación para solicitar fotografías o enviar a su hijo con el formulario de pedido y el pago.

Como recordatorio, debemos realizar un simulacro de encierro dentro de los primeros 30 días de clases. Si su hijo siente ansiedad por estos temas, coméntelo antes del simulacro.

Hispanic Heritage Month - Sept 15-Oct 15

National Hispanic Heritage Month, from Sept. 15–Oct. 15 each year, commemorates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

The celebration begins each year on Sept. 15, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile and Belize also observe their independence days during this period.
