Legally Blonde, the Musical: Performances March 14-24.

Katie Clarke-Robertson, Artistic Director of Stage 284 and the Director for this production, selected the title because “it’s a playful invitation to get serious about being yourself.” Clarke-Robertson sees that authenticity is at the heart of building community and found family. “When I was going through my source material, I kept coming back to this theme of being who you are. I hope all my actors and team members feel they can be brave in our space to be their truest selves. Love is at the heart of this show— and it’s not just romance. When audience members leave, I want them to be reminded that your people are your people, and they will find you. Be you, life is too short to be anyone else!”

Youth Company Intensive: High School Musical

2 week program, July 8 - 21

Ages: Entering Grades 5-9

About the show: It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
