FIC3 Fraud and Internal Control Case Competition

Drexel LeBow's Accounting Department hosts its 10th Annual Fraud and Internal Control Case Competition on February 9, co-sponsored by the Institute of Internal Auditors Philadelphia Chapter, Mercadien and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Four-student teams analyze a real-life inspired case then present solutions to judges for prizes. Students and volunteer business leader coaches and judges connect, building networks and mentoring relationships beyond the event. The competition offers networking, real-world experience, and the chance to showcase analysis skills. Registration open through January 26th for the 60 available spots across 15 teams, requiring at least one accounting major and one upperclassman per team. For full details, see the event page.

Compete in the 11th Hour Bid Simulation!

The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Philadelphia Chapters seek students to form teams and compete in the 11th Hour Bid Simulation against other Philadelphia universities for bragging rights, trophies and prizes. The event will pair each 5-student team with two industry pros who will mentor them, providing excellent networking requiring no prior estimating experience. Construction management and engineering students are encouraged to join friends for a fun evening of food, friendly competition, and industry networking. The mock bid day uses real subcontractor bids, drawings, forms and a bid sheet to illustrate the intense final 2 hours of a competitive bid, held on Thursday February 15 on the 4th floor of University Crossings. For more information, see the competition website.
