ABA assistant professor of instruction invited to join editorial board

Meka Mccammon

Meka McCammon, PhD, BCBA-D, assistant professor of instruction and MS in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program practicum coordinator, was invited to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. This journal publishes research about applications of the experimental analysis of behavior to problems of social importance and is noted as the premier flagship journal in the field of behavior analysis. 

CFS hosts Passing of the Gavel ceremony

CBCS faculty, staff, family members, and guests gathered in the Atrium Thursday afternoon to thank Mario Hernandez, PhD for his years of service as Child and Family Studies (CFS) chair and to welcome Lise Fox, PhD into her new role. Hernandez has held the position since 2007 and has led CFS to the expansiveness and prominence it has risen to today. Fox, who is currently a professor in the department and is the co-division director of the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities and the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, has served in several roles within CFS over the past 27 years.

MFT graduates

Marriage and Family Therapy master's program celebrates first graduating class


The Department of Child and Family Studies held a celebration to congratulate the first graduating class of the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) MS program at USF. While the official graduation ceremony is on Aug. 6, this special reception was scheduled to recognize the program's inaugural graduating class. During the ceremony, faculty and students shared testimony about the joys and difficulties of a program established just as the pandemic required all classes to go online. Practicum supervisors also shared pre-recorded messages regarding their experiences working with each of the students, highlighting personal accomplishments and successes. Read more.

RMHC assistant professor of instruction receives community service award from City of Tampa 


During Hillsborough County's "Celebrating ADA: 32 Years of Accessibility and Inclusion" ceremony, Jillian Heilman, PhD, CRC, assistant professor of instruction in the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (RMHC) program, received the Thomas "Tom" Ulvenes - Outstanding Community Service Award for the work she has done in the Tampa area to better the lives of individuals with disabilities. This award recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the community through courageous advocacy, education, and diligent persistence in pursuing goals that improve the quality of life for persons with disabilitiesRead more.

Alyssa Rojas

ABA doctoral student named Distinguished Scholar


Alyssa Rojas, MS, RBT, a doctoral student in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program, was named Distinguished Scholar of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies. The mission of this distinction is to support the advancement of elite graduate students on their journeys toward becoming leaders in behavioral science. Graduate students who are selected as Distinguished Scholars work under the guidance of the center's advisors and trustees on collaborative projects. These projects aim to produce information on high-quality behavioral services and science and promote global collaboration among behavioral organizations.
