CBCS welcomes new budget director
Blanca Pauliukevicius, MBA, CPO will begin her role as the CBCS budget director on Monday, Oct. 9. Pauliukevicius will be responsible for the overall fiscal and business management of the college and oversight of the fiscal team. She will provide leadership and direction for the planning, development, and coordination of all budget activities and will participate in developing strategic goals and objectives. Read more.

Criminology associate instructor selected to participate in FBI Citizens Academy
Joni Bernbaum, MA, an associate instructor in the Department of Criminology, was nominated and accepted to participate in the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Citizens Academy. The Citizens Academy programs are six-to-eight-week classes held at FBI field offices that give participants an inside look at the FBI to foster a greater understanding of the role of federal law enforcement in the community. Bernbaum was nominated by one of the department's agency partners, who applauded her for her leadership at USF and in the community and recognized her for her advocacy, collaborations, and integrity.

Aging studies PhD student receives Better Living for Seniors Hillsborough Scholarship
Cassidy Doyle, a PhD student in the School of Aging Studies, was selected as this year’s Better Living for Seniors Hillsborough scholarship recipient. The scholarship is awarded to one local student enrolled in a post-secondary program focused on serving older adults. Better Living for Seniors Hillsborough is an organization comprised of community members and professionals who work with older adults and their caregivers with goals to build professional relationships, share information, and educate one another.

Freshmen Success: Implementation of Comprehensive Universal Supports for School Engagement

Freshmen Success is a randomized control research grant geared to support all freshmen students at high schools to stay on track toward graduation. A Freshmen Leadership Team will meet monthly to monitor student data around attendance, behavior, and course completion. Ninth-grade students will participate in lessons on "How to be a Freshman" co-taught between classroom teachers and upperclassmen students called Peer Navigators. Examples of lessons include time management, graduation requirements, and how to read a transcript.

2023 Cycling for Autism

Over the past 11 years, the Tampa Midtown Rotary Club has raised over $200,000 with its annual Cycling for Autism event to support individuals in our community who have an autism spectrum disorder. Proceeds this year will benefit the Applied Behavior Analysis Program, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of South Florida, and the Tampa Midtown Rotary Foundation.
