Career fair prepares students for futures in ASL interpreting
Faces of the Future, an annual career fair hosted by the ASL Interpreting major, gives students a glimpse into the vibrant community of interpreters, D/deaf professionals, collaborators, and business owners. This year, the event brought together community partners from all corners of Florida to meet students, who may one day become valuable members of their organizations, and alumni of the program who shared their experiences in the field. CBCS researchers travel to Germany to discuss reducing mental illness stigma
Kristin Kosyluk, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy, and Alexandra Albizu-Jacob, MHP, a CBCS doctoral student, traveled to Ulm University in Germany to meet with other scholars doing work on a strategic disclosure intervention to reduce mental illness stigma. Kosyluk (PI) and co-PI Jerome Galea, PhD, MSW, LCSW, received CBCS Internal Grant Program funding to adapt a strategic disclosure stigma reduction intervention called Honest, Open, Proud (or Up To Me) for chatbot delivery. Kosyluk and Albizu-Jacob presented on the preliminary feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of their chatbot for the Technology Subcommittee for the International Honest, Open, Proud Steering Committee. Social work professor receives distinguished alumni award
School of Social Work Professor Alison Salloum, PhD, LCSW, received the 1914 Distinguished Alumni Award in Academia and Research from the Tulane School of Social Work (TSSW) Alumni Association Board. Salloum received her MSW ('94) and PhD ('05) from TSSW. This award recognizes TSSW alumni whose achievements exemplify the values of the school and who have made a remarkable impact on the profession. Read more.

Call for Participants: Interactive, SMS-based Chatbot Program
Alexandra Albizu-Jacob, MPH, a CBCS doctoral candidate and graduate research assistant, is seeking USF college students experiencing test anxiety, social anxiety, depression or other mental health challenges to participate in their study involving an interactive, SMS-based chatbot program. The research study includes interacting with the chatbot program over three sessions and providing feedback on the prototype.
