Congratulations, Fall 2023 CBCS grads!
A total of 357 students will earn degrees from CBCS during USF's Fall 2023 Commencement. The commencement ceremonies will include 266 students receiving undergraduate degrees, 88 students receiving master's degrees, and three students receiving doctoral degrees from CBCS. Criminology faculty, students, and alumni attend 2023 ASC Annual Meeting
Department of Criminology faculty, students, and alumni attended the 2023 American Society of Criminology (ASC) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. They participated in multiple events, sharing their expertise and research findings over the four-day period. Some were also honored for their outstanding achievements and continued success in the field of criminology, including Professor Michael J. Lynch, PhD, and alum Averi Fegadel, who received the Outstanding Article of the Year Award from the ASC Division on White Collar and Corporate Crime for 2022. Read more.

Social work PhD student shares preliminary research findings
Britani Holland, MSW, LCSW, a PhD student in the School of Social Work, shared preliminary findings of a national survey exploring the support for and willingness to pay for programming and reentry services aimed at reducing recidivism among criminal offenders with adverse childhood experience at the ASC Annual Meeting. The project is funded by the USF Interdisciplinary Research Grant, and Holland is working with School of Social Work Associate Professor Sondra Fogel, PhD, and Department of Criminology faculty John Cochran, PhD, and Jessica Grosholz, PhD. Aging studies emeritus professor dies
Sue Saxon, PhD, an emeritus professor who retired from USF in 2002, died last week. Saxon joined the faculty in 1963 and taught a variety of courses, including the popular graduate and undergraduate courses in physical change and aging. The School of Aging Studies honors her legacy with the annual selection of the Sue Saxon Outstanding Teaching awardee. Saxon is pictured with Mary Jean Etten, former professor in the School of Aging Studies, at the 2014 School of Aging Studies Preceptors Award Reception.

Criminology visiting assistant instructor participates in Great American Teach-In
Cary Hopkins Eyles, MA, CAP, a visiting assistant instructor in the Department of Criminology, visited Walker Middle Magnet School and spoke to seven different classes about criminology and USF. Eyles met with students in grades six through eight in classes ranging from career decisions to physical education. She handed out USF-branded items from the Department of Criminology and the Office of Youth Experiences at USF.

Auditions: This Is My Brave - College Edition at USF

The team is seeking storytellers with a 5-minute story to share about their lived experience with mental health and/or substance use conditions via poetry, original music, comedy, essay, dance or other artistic expression. The show will be live on stage this spring on April 5, 2024.
