CBCS Research & Data Center to host open house
Directly after the CBCS Faculty & Staff Assembly on Friday, April 26, the CBCS Research & Data Center (RDC) will host an open house and discussion. Titled "Research Challenges & Changing Requirements: What can RDC do for you?", the event will cover the following topics:
RDC Structure & Processes:
- PDFs: Proposal development facilitators
- Core RDC services list
- Adding RDC to adequacy of resources, etc.
Funding Agency Requirements:
- Managing data and security effectively – HIPAA/FERPA compliance, REDCap, etc.
- Data use agreements
- Data sharing plans

School of Social Work celebrates Social Work Month
The School of Social Work held a celebration of Social Work Month with the National Association of Social Workers theme of Empowering Social Workers: Inspiring Action, Leading Change. Over 100 social workers attended the event at the Children's Board of Hillsborough County. Multiple awards were given out and three retiring faculty were honored: Director Riaan van Zyl, PhD, and associate professors Guitele Rahill, PhD, LCSW, and Iraida Carrion, PhD, LCSW (pictured). Speech-language pathology students collaborate with physical therapy students
Second-year speech-language pathology and doctorate of physical therapy faculty and students participated in an interprofessional lab and discussion to better understand how the two professions align. The speech-language pathology students participated in case discussion and were able to learn more about the purpose and rationale for physical therapy.

Brave stories come to light at This Is My Brave - College Edition at USF
Eight USF students took to the stage Friday night to share their lived experiences with mental illness and substance use disorders. Many cast members of This Is My Brave - College Edition at USF chose to share their experiences through poetry. Hundreds of audience members filled the concert hall to support the cast and join the movement to eliminate stigma. Read more.

Aging studies PhD candidate accepted to data immersion program focused on Alzheimer’s disease
Cassidy Doyle, a PhD candidate in the School of Aging Studies, was recently selected to participate in a competitive three-day research intensive at the University of Michigan’s Michigan Center for Contextual Factors in Alzheimer’s Disease (MCCFAD). This research intensive brings together a variety of research applicants ranging from graduate students to senior faculty. MCCFAD is an NIH/NIA-funded Alzheimer’s disease-focused resource center for minority aging research.
