Brothers & Sisters,

When our children were younger and we were reading to them each night before bed, I made sure we acquired "Stone Soup" for their library. This was a favorite book of mine when I was a child.

The story begins with a hungry stranger wandering into a village and going door to door begging for food. Each person turns him away, claiming they have no extra food to share. The clever stranger moves to the center of the village, produces a stone and comments aloud, "If I only had a pot to warm water over the fire, I could make a delicious stone soup." The curious villagers begin to gather around to observe how he will make soup from an ordinary gray stone. After someone offers a pot, which is filled with water and placed over the fire, the stranger comments aloud that the soup would be much improved if only it had a potato. Someone produces a potato they can spare, eager to watch the recipe come together. The stranger then names another vegetable which is directly produced by someone else. So it continues with donated ingredients from various villagers until the simmering pot is filled with delicious vegetable soup, creating an intoxicating aroma. In the end, the stranger shares the delicious soup and is an enough for everyone - full bellies, full hearts.

I later came to understand this story as a parable for our Christian life in community.

Our goal for God's BEYOND initiative is 100% participation. Our gifts vary in size and type, but each person in our church, from young to old, has gifts they can bring. And together, God will do beyond what we could ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20).

In just over two weeks we will gather as a church family on Commitment Sunday, May 21st to make our commitments to God's BEYOND Vision for our church. That morning our Sunday morning worship services will be held at 8:45a & 10:45a.

Between services, from 9:45a-10:45a, we will share in a potluck breakfast brunch outside under tents in the front parking lot. We will have music, games for kids and adults, and celebrate the joy of participating together in God's BEYOND Vision for our future.

In order for this event to be a success, we need your help. We invite you to click the image above and sign up to bring an item to share with our church family. It is going to be a great day of celebration and just the start of big things to come.

It won't be the same without YOU.

BEYOND hopeful,

Rise Against Hunger · Sat., May 20th

Through a partnership with Rise Against Hunger, Warren Austin has arranged for us to host a food packing event on Saturday, May 20th in which 100 volunteers (working in shifts) will pack 20,000 meals in four hours. These meals will be packed and shipped to a location in the world that is suffering from food insecurity.

This is a great event for individuals, families and kids alike. We will have music, food, hair nets and fun as we celebrate the greater ministry impact God is accomplishing through CARB through the BEYOND initiative. Please click the Rise Against Hunger image above to register your household!

Get Familiar & Get Involved Here @ CARB!!

We invite you to join us on our hilltop property over the next few weeks to walk the site, and to pray for our ministries, ongoing AND future.  When you arrive on site, the hilltop prayer walk will prompt you to pray for the: sanctuary, the gathering space, Bridge Kids, Bridge Students, Worship, discipleship meeting spaces, the parking lot, the front door, our staff and our congregation.  The hilltop prayer walk is a beautiful way to trust God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us.
