Spread Positive Messages with "Kindness in Chalk" May 1-7
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the Brown County Mental Health and Wellness Action Team invites everyone in the communities of New Ulm, Springfield, Sleepy Eye and Comfrey to participate in a “Kindness in Chalk” activity during the week of May 1-7.
 
The goal is to cover the sidewalks in the community with messages and images of love, peace, hope and acceptance with the intention of bringing smiles to the faces of those who need it the most.

Safety Demonstration Project Coming to
1st North St. and Garden St. Intersection
Starting May 1

The Heart of New Ulm’s Coalition for Active Safe and Healthy Streets, in partnership with the City of New Ulm, is planning on conducting a summer-long demonstration project at the intersection of 1st North St. and Garden St.

Beginning on May 1, 2023, and lasting thru mid-October, temporary curb extensions, or “bump outs,” will be set up at the intersection to help residents in the neighborhood and throughout New Ulm experience how curb extensions help slow traffic and make it safer for all who use Harman Park and walk or bike in the area.

Walk & Roll to School Day Wednesday, May 3
Students from New Ulm Middle School, Jefferson Elementary, St. Paul Elementary and St. Anthony Elementary are invited to walk or roll to school along with parents, teachers and community leaders in a “Walking School Bus.”
