KIM'S CORNER

Wow, here we are in May! I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful start to Spring. I don’t know about you, but the pollen hit me hard this year. We have had good chances of rain and washing the pollen away, which makes me smile. Yes, let it rain.

So, what is new at the library? First, our stats are increasing, which always makes me happy. We have a lot of programs on the calendar. We have a guest speaker this Saturday, May 4th. Listen to Elizabeth McGreevy speak about mountain cedars, the juniper trees that prefer the limestone-based soils of karst country. Learn what karst country is, how it’s different from the rest of Texas, and why we need to start using these trees as nature-based solutions to help regenerate these lands.

Another exciting development at the library is adding a new staff member. I want to introduce Jasmine Ballard to you all. She has taken the clerk’s position and will be a great addition to the library. I am excited for Jasmine to get to know our library family and will say I am thankful for the strong computer skills she possesses that I have discovered, so if you get a chance, come by and introduce yourself.

No worries, John Goforth will still be around the library during this transition on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. He is an excellent asset to the library.

Until next month,

Kim
