KIM'S CORNER

I hope everyone got a chance to spend these last few days reflecting on the holidays, spending time with their family, and experiencing all the wonderful and weird things happening around us. I know I have. So, I wish everyone new beginnings and a wonderful wet spring.

And in saying that, as much as I want it to rain, we have a wonderful event coming in just a few days: a total eclipse. How cool is that? I am personally excited to be part of it, and I know Mary Anne has been putting in a lot of hard work and time in preparation for this program for the Comfort Public Library and you!

We hope you can join us here at the library, but first, we want you to be in a safe place with family and friends and be able to watch the grand event. We have eclipse glasses here at the library if you don’t have them. Just come on by the library and pick up what you need.

Finally, keep an eye out for the Comfort Public Library’s emails and calendar. We have many fun programs this month.

Which leads to,

How does the man in the moon cut his hair?

Eclipse it.

WHAT'S NEW FOR APRIL

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List is one of the most distinguished children’s literature lists in the country.

This prestigious list is composed of titles from creative, talented and diverse authors. The titles on the list offer students in third through sixth grades quality fiction and nonfiction literature to be read for pleasure. The TBA selection committee considered a whopping 863 books for this year’s master list.

The primary goals of the TBA list are to introduce children to a variety of quality books, develop critical reading skills, and honor and encourage authors. To compose the list, the committee selected five outstanding books of various genres for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. Come over to Comfort Public Library and check out one (or more!) of these wonderful books.

This month's "Comfort Zone" Book Club selection is award-winning The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. Join us on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 am for an always-lively discussion of this popular book!!

Every sport needs its laureate. With The Boys in the Boat, crew has found its voice in Daniel James Brown, who tells a thrilling, heart-thumping tale of a most remarkable band of rowing brothers who upstaged Adolf Hitler at the 1936 Olympics. Well-told history, packed with suspense and a likable bunch of underdogs at the heart of an improbable triumph.
