As precautionary steps for safety and security, we would like to ask all attendees and visitors of St John, to make sure you are locking your vehicles anytime you are inside the church.

St John has a fund to help people for emergencies or short-term help. Vouchers for gas or food are given to those in need. Money for this fund comes from members of the congregation. Volunteers are available on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 to help people in need. If the need is ongoing, they refer them to an agency where they can receive longer-term help.

Compassion Fund is a ministry to the community. If you would like to volunteer to help with this St. John ministry, call the office and leave your name with Toni.

For the 100th Anniversary of our church building we would like to celebrate with the refurbishing of the old steeple bell.

We will have a goal of “100”-$20 interactions in the following 3 ways to raise an initial $2000: This is our KICK START part of the program.

1.   Direct $20 donation to the fund

2.  " Adopt a Robe"-Donate $20 to turn an old choir robe into a paint smock for the After School Program. The goal is around 40 of them. Every dollar goes into the bell fund.

3.   Purchase an item made from the old choir robes such as bags, computer sleeves, etc. Janet Petefish will work with you to personalize that item. Your child’s drawing can be digitized and printed onto part of the bag (or I can put it on a tumbler for that same $20). You can add your own text, names or an inspirational quote. Think ahead for Christmas or special occasions. Every dollar to the bell fund.

Tables will be set up in the Narthex on the first 2 Sundays of upcoming months to take donations and pre-sales of items.

The next phase of the fund raising will be for another $3000 or more for 3 designated projects:

1) Repair of the stained glass on windows on the north side

2) A Welcome Center in the Narthex entry

3) Parking Lot fund

The best part is, every interaction will enter you into a drawing to be the first to RING THE BELL. (Rumor has it there may be a gift basket to go with that). You can contact Janet Petefish for more information.

St. John Finance Board has put into place a new spending policy.  There is a new form in the mailbox outside of the Parish Hall that will need to be filled out and pre-approved before any purchase over $100 is made or reimbursed on behalf of the church. Please see Business Manager if you have any questions about the form.

Coats for Kids will be coming October 12th

As you ready your children for the coming cold winter, please consider donating new or gently used coats, snow pants, boots, mittens, or hats. There are many children in Charles City who will love getting a “new” coat for winter!

Just a reminder that St. John offers scholarships for all our youth members attending a Christian camp. Scholarships are offered in the amounts of $25 for a one-day camp, $50 for camps lasting 2-3 days, and $150 for camps lasting 4-7 days. Just bring in a copy of your registration to the Business Office for a reimbursement.
