Are you traveling yet? Since the last newsletter, I ventured outside my COVID comfort zone and made two work trips: One to American Quilter’s Society Quilt Week in Paducah KY and more recently to the Nancy Zieman Productions Sew Quilt Create Weekend in Beaver Dam WI. Flights were not involved since I drove to both events. Fresh air and sewing friends! What a combo! For many of my sewing friends, known and unknown, these were also their first public shows to attend. I attended with caution and joy to once again interact in person with sewing sisters and brothers.
In Paducah, Rita Farro and I met up with award winning quilters, Heidi Proffetty, Linda McGehee, and many other quilt stars. Rita’s sister, Deborah, drove in from Nashville. We met up at the fabric mecca, Hancock’s of Paducah, which has one of the largest SCHMETZ offerings I have ever seen. In Beaver Dam, Rita met up with sister Deena along with many more sewing stars. Unfortunately, Mary Mulari was sidelined by COVID and unable to travel or perform with Rita as the Midwest YaYa Sisters. The show went on with Rita giving a stellar performance with Mary’s quick and clever samples. Between Mary’s aprons and wraps and Rita’s Frankensewing samples mixed with Rita’s wit and personal stories, the audience had fun while learning sewing tips. I was happy to take on a supportive role as a runway model with Donna Fenske, Diane Dhein, and Deena Schroder. BTW, Mary recovered and is no longer quarantined. Go over to my personal blog to see a few pics from each event:
