Celebrating Jewish Artists

Tuesday, May 7 at 7PM

Let’s celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month by viewing works of art and discussing the lives of the artists who created them. The work of Jewish artists from various countries will be featured. While there are some names you have likely heard of, you will also view the work and hear the stories of artists you may have never heard of before. For Adults.

Free Comic Book Day Celebration at Atrium

Wednesday, May 8 from 10AM to 6:30PM

Join us on May 8 at the BPL Atrium for some all-day fun to celebrate Free Comic Book Day! Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is always the first Saturday in May, but BPL is going to hold our kick-off event on May 8 when the Bloomfield Public Schools are closed! We’ll have free comics and some other fun freebies to hand out, a henna artist, and more! For All Ages.

Henna with Dhanyah Bascom at Atrium

Wednesday, May 8 from 4-6PM

Local artist Dhanyah Bascom will visit to create some temporary henna tattoos for kids, tweens, and teens! Dhanyah Bascom's artistry combines traditional imagery with pop culture images to create incredibly unique and dynamic henna designs. She uses fresh, all natural henna cones and provides after-care instructions. No registration necessary, though it will be first-come, first served.

Job and Career Series: Important Resume Writing and Cover Letter Tips for a New Era

Wednesday, May 8 at 6:30PM

Annette Bosley-Boyce, an MBTI Certified Practitioner, will share her knowledge on all things resume and cover letter. In this workshop, you will learn current trends for structure and formatting, the importance of keywords and transferrable skills, dos and don’ts of resume writing, and networking to complement your job search. For Adults.

Healthy Relationships and Sexual Health for Adults 50+ at 330 Park

Thursday, May 9 at 12:30PM

Bloomfield Senior Services invites you to a Lunch and Learn at the Senior Center, 330 Park Ave., Great Room. Kay Munoz from the Health Collective will present an information session on sexual health for Bloomfield and West Hartford residents age 50+. Free private HIV and Hepatitis C testing will be offered after the presentation by the WHBHD and the Health Collective. Please call the Senior Center at 860-243-8361 for more details and to register. Registration deadline is May 6. For Adults.

Wintonbury Book Discussion and Author Visit: More Than You Can See by Barbara Rubin

Thursday, May 9 at 5:30PM

Author Barbara Rubin will join us to share the story of her daughter Jenn’s horrific car accident which put her into a coma for two weeks. Once she awakened it was discovered that Jen lacked any traditional method of communication. Unable to speak or function on her own, Jenn had to relearn basic life skills in a rehabilitation facility while Barbara and her family struggled to piece their lives together. For Adults.
