March is Women's History Month

Join BPL as we celebrate Women’s History Month! The 2023 theme designated by the National Women’s History Alliance is "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories." This theme recognizes women, past and present, who have been active in all forms of media and storytelling. What better institution to celebrate this theme than a library? Check out programs such as a book discussion of The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray about Belle da Costa Greene, a Short Story Chat about “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, or join Social Justice Book Club for a discussion of Three Women by Lisa Taddeo. Attend a program about women’s issues, such as Black Women and Maternal Health or Empowering Women Before and During Retirement, or learn about Pauline Viardot: A Forgotten, But Extraordinary 19th Century Musicienne.

You may also be interested in attending programs run by women experts in their fields, such as Eat to Boost Your Energy with dietitian Shana Griffin, Gentle Yoga With Pia Oliveri, Owner and Director of Wabi-Sabi Yoga and Wellness Center, I'm Still Learning: Artists Who Became Famous After Age 60 with docent Helane Rheingold, or Understanding Our Credit Reports with Kathleen Titsworth from the State of CT Dept. of Banking. Of course, there are always new materials by women poets, producers, writers, illustrators, narrators, biographers, academics, actors, researchers, and the list goes on. Ask us for a recommendation today. We’re here for you!
