Celebrating Literacy Week and Free Library Cards

Bloomfield celebrates the importance of literacy year round, but Bloomfield Public Schools and Bloomfield Public Library went extra hard for Read Across America Day.

Our schools organized an amazing line up of author visits and guest readers. BPL staff read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss to all 300+ students at Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School while sharing their Science Bytes recipe for oobleck! We are happy to report that 90 more students now have BPL cards that they can use to read comics, listen to music, watch movies, and research information for assignments or personal interest all for FREE with their library card.

Remember, library cards are FREE from birth and can be used at public libraries throughout the state.

We are thankful that the CT Insider captured all of the literary love. From the article, "Books and reading — it goes hand in hand with leading a really full life," said Bloomfield Library Director Elizabeth Lane.
