Youth Programs You Don't Want to Miss!

Each year on the first Saturday in February, thousands of libraries across the world celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day by offering free, fun activities for families. This year, BPL will be taking our celebration on the road by hosting a variety of programs at our Bloomfield Human Services Building at 330 Park Ave. Our line-up includes:

 •      Mr. Magic (11 AM) – A magic show perfect for all ages.

•       Read to Grow Bookmobile (12-3 PM) – Every child, tween, and teen selects and keeps a free book!

•       Hartford Symphony Petting Zoo (1:30 PM) – Members of the Hartford Symphony will bring a variety of instruments; kids will be able to hold and play all of them with pointers from Symphony staff.

We are excited about another fun program for families and children of all ages, Tanglewood Marionettes Presents The Dragon King. Join us at Metacomet School, 185 School Street on Friday, February 9 at 6:30 PM.

An underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore, The Dragon King tells the tale of an intrepid grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea in search of the elusive Dragon King, and the answers to why he has forsaken the land above. Colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and a wise and gentle protagonist who uses empathy and kindness to complete her quest can be found in this award-winning production.
