Our teachers will be finalizing 2023-2024 quarter 4 student progress reports this week for release the following week. Progress report grades will be posted to Skyward on May 2. Please keep in mind that progress reports are a snapshot in time taken at the midpoint of each nine-week quarter, so we ask that our parents continue to monitor Skyward all along for the latest student progress. If you have a student at Colonial and have any trouble accessing Skyward, please have your student show you on their laptop or simply call or email the school for help. It is so important that parents regularly review their child's progress, especially when progress reports and report cards are released.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week seniors will be taking their Common Final Exams. These results will be part of their permanent record, so if you are the parent of Class of 2024 senior, please make sure they get their sleep the night before an exam and eat breakfast the morning of an exam. We want our seniors performing at their very best all this week!
Next Saturday morning will be the last OCPS Parent Conference of the school year to be held at Edgewater High School. The title of the conference is - "Transitioning to Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Adulting." If you have an incoming freshman next August or a senior about to graduate, this is a special event you might want to seriously consider as these parent conferences are extremely well organized for our families.
Thank you for reading about some of our latest Grenadier successes and other happenings.
It's Great To Be A Grenadier!

Finalist for the Agricultural Advocacy Award
|
From over 400 chapters across the state, our program has been selected as one of 5 finalists in the Agricultural Advocacy Award area. Over the course of the year, our Education Officer Ashley Simmons has chaired a committee of members who have visited local elementary schools to teach basic animal science, horticulture, and entomology. Ashley completed these projects and application under the direction of Mrs. Alex Lloyd. We will receive the results at the State FFA Convention in June!

FFA Proficiency Award Finalists: Valerie Rodriguez and Victoria Justiniano
|
|
|
In further exciting news, two of our members have been recognized as finalists for FL FFA Proficiency awards! These awards recognize achievement in Supervised Agriculture Experience projects.
Valerie Rodriguez is a finalist in poultry production. Housed here on campus, Valerie has spent the last three years breeding, raising, showing, and selling her specialty Phoenix chickens. Her birds have been recognized at local, state, and national shows with Valerie earning honors as high individual in poultry exhibition at both the county and State level.
Victoria Justiniano's project is in marine conservation. Since her Middle School years, and enhanced by her growth within our program, Victoria has conducted research on sea turtle populations off the coasts of Puerto Rico. Her data collection has important implications as she and the team have recorded variances in hatch and survival rates of predominantly leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles. In the last year, Victoria has taught a series of classes across Orange County sharing her research findings to promote marine conservation.
Our members will discover their final placings live on stage during the FL FFA State Convention.
