AFFCF has updated our Post-Secondary Education Resource Guide!

It is a great resource for anyone caring for or working with a student with a foster care background who is interested in post-secondary education.

Of course, it is also a great resource for any student with a foster care background interested in post-secondary studies to read, too!

There are a lot of resources available for students. The guide will help students and those caring for them or working with them learn what they are and how to apply.

The guide is available as downloadable PDF on the AFFCF website and all of the links and e-mail addresses in the guide are clickable. It includes the below topics:

EMPOWER POST-SECONDARY

READINESS TRAINING

ASU offers a free, self-paced Post-Secondary Education Planning Course for supportive adults working with students with foster care backgrounds! The course takes three hours to complete (self-paced) and covers the below topics:

• Supporting Bright Educational Futures for Foster Youth
• Understanding Adolescent Development, Trauma and Resilience
• One Meaningful Conversation Can Change A Life
• Personal Development and the Path(s) to College
• How to Become a Powerful Mentor in the College Application Process
• "Congratulations! You're Accepted"...Now what?

FREE IN-DEMAND VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS

AT EVIT

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) has In-Demand Industry Funding (I-DIF) available for students to study certain vocational programs free of charge.

To qualify, a student must graduate high school (12th grade) and can attend a tuition-free I-DIF certification program within one year of their graduation date.
