Helping Our Largest Class of SEO Scholars Get To and Through College

Our Biggest Winter Institute Ever!

Over Winter Break, SEO hosted 348 NYC and SF College Scholars at the annual Winter Institute, held in New York City and San Francisco. The Winter Institute is our flagship event for College Scholars, and this year marked the largest turnout of both students and volunteers, with over 100 volunteers involved in the networking exercises.

The Winter Institute gave our College Scholars the chance to learn about different career paths through speed networking events, and practice their interview skills in mock interview sessions.  At the NYC Winter Institute, now in its 10th year, Scholars also participated in a career fair, showcasing 33 companies with whom students could meet for potential summer opportunities.

Students also benefited from a host of events and presentations covering a range of academic and professional topics, from how to manage class workload to the importance of LinkedIn and how to best leverage it.

The Winter Institute is just one of the ways in which we help our Scholars to graduate from college and leave ready for productive careers.

Thank you for helping us make this happen!

SEO Scholars San Francisco is proud to announce it has been named a beneficiary of a 50 Fund Playmakers grant award.

50 Fund, the philanthropic initiative of Super Bowl 50, supports organizations that help close the opportunity gap that exists for Bay Area children, youth and young adults living in low-income communities.

This Playmaker grant enabled SEO Scholars San Francisco to expand outreach and recruitment efforts for its new class of ninth grade Scholars, which joins the program on February 6th. Through the eight-year Scholars program, these hard-working students will gain the support, academic skills and resources they need to be successful in high school and college.
