      Search for New Church Treasurer

As you probably know, our church treasurer of 25 years, Mike Evanson, is stepping down at the end of this year.  According to the Book of Order, we have to appoint a Treasurer from the congregation. This person does not need to be an accountant. We may need to hire an accountant to do the budget reporting and keep the accounting records that Mike does if we don’t have a volunteer from the congregation who can do that.

The Treasurer will need to work closely with the service, if we need to hire one, and with Lisa, our Office Administrator.

If you are interested in learning more about this volunteer position, or feel called to serve in this capacity, please contact Johnna Thurston, 918 697 5505.
Word From the Pastor
A very big THANK YOU to everyone who worked to coordinate our Fifth Annual Memorial Day Weekend Picnic – and Worship on May 29. After having to skip last year, due to my being on sabbatical, it was particularly meaningful to host it again at my home. I am particularly grateful for the hard work of the Worship & Music and Fellowship ministry teams (P.J. Brobston & Clay Finck-Ward, moderators, respectively). Please take a look at the pictures in this newsletter and on our Facebook page – www.facebook/collegehilltulsa. It was a great morning and afternoon (with about 90 folks!) of relaxed worship, fellowship, food, trampoline jumping, and a bit of fishing.

Also, a special thanks to the generosity of the church for providing my home with a new and awesome back deck! Appreciation to Mark Miller for his engineering and construction skills, along with David Zerger and Donna Richardson, to  Matt Moffett for helping me stain it, and my friend Marco for most of the trim work, railings and stairs. It was quite a learning experience for me.

Later this month, I will be in Portland, Oregon, to attend the 222nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). In addition to my duties as a commissioner, elected by Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery, I have been appointed by the GA Moderator, Heath Rada, to moderate one of the Assembly’s 14 committees. I will be working with the Mid-Councils Committee, charged with any business dealing with synods and presbyteries. While an incredible honor, it is by its very nature a fairly daunting task, which includes me being the person to make the presentation of our committee work to the entire General Assembly. I ask for your prayers. On Sunday, June 12, I will be leading the Adult Church School class in a preview of what this year’s Assembly will be facing. Upon my return (I’ll be out on June 19 and 26) I will lead another class, as well as preach a sermon on the results.

Many of you will be taking a well-deserved vacation in the months ahead – so have fun, get some rest, and enjoy life. I look forward to a summer with opportunities to gather together to participate in the blessings of worship, education, mission, fellowship, and the development of true community.

Blessings,
Rev. Todd Freeman

Have You Completed
the Survey?

If you did not get a chance to complete the Congregational Care Ministry Team's recent survey, please click the link below.

We completed this survey several years ago. but have many new members and you might want to change what you put on the last survey.

As a church family, we all take care of each other. We all have different likes, strengths and time constraints which allow us to participate differently in the care of others - from providing transportation, to hospital visitation, to writing cards, making phone calls, etc.

It only takes about 5 minutes to complete the survey and will help the Congregational Care Team better minister to the whole congregation.

Please click below to  download.

Completed surveys can be returned to Marilyn Hill or to the church office.

The Beginner’s Guide to Mindfulness: 8 Helpful Tips
May 27, 2016
by Janet Miller

You don’t have to be a Buddhist (or a hippy) to practice mindfulness, and you don’t have to spend hours sitting on the floor in meditation.

Practicing mindfulness is simply bringing awareness to yourself and your existence. By practicing mindfulness in your life, you can feel more focused, less stressed, and more happy. Here are eight ways to introduce mindfulness into your life.

A meaningful way to celebrate your Birthday this year is to donate an amount equal to your new age to the Endowment Fund .
