The Children of Ghana, Portrait No. 46

As you might remember from a previous newsletter, my wife and I spent some time in Ghana this last summer. While there I took portraits of the children.

What struck me about the children, was how they had these two completely opposite sides to their personalities. On the one hand they were the happiest children in the world, but on the other hand they carried about a great weight: poverty, hunger, broken homes, addiction, illness, uncertainty and so many other issues.

At times they were so very serious and an then a minute later, they could be so silly...despite those burdens.
