We've recently switched phone companies and have been experiencing some troubles with our phone lines at our Newport News office. We are diligently working to get it repaired. You can always reach any of our offices by calling 757-892-5300. We are sorry for any inconvenience!

FAQs
Q:   W hat can I do with my devices that I don't wear anymore?
A: We will take them! Any old orthotic or prosthetic devices you may have will be donated to non-profits that service individuals around the world who are in need of these devices.

Q: Can I wash/clean my device? How do I do it?
A: M ost of the materials we use in the field can be wiped down with rubbing alcohol or washed with a small amount of liquid soap and rinsed well with water. The instructions/wear/care are given in paper form at delivery, however many times these get lost or not read. It is important not to dunk your brace or prosthetic in water as the glued layers may start to separate, however running water at a large sink is usually okay. For specific materials it is good to ask your practitioner about more specific guidelines.

Share with us a case that was particularly challenging, but turned out really well. I recently had a case that presented a challenge and did not know how I could help the patient at first. The patient presented with an elbow flexion contracture and had worn orthoses in the past without much success. With this being a pediatric patient, our options were limited if we were going to use an "off the shelf" device. They would not stay on the patient well enough and could not apply the forces necessary to dynamically stretch the patient. Steve and I worked together to come up with a custom design for the patient using elbow joints that are typically used in AFOs which successfully applied the stretch to the patient that was needed and the outcome was great. Every day is exciting in this field as you are presented with interesting cases that challenge you and force you to think outside of the box.
