Thank you, John Clarke, for scheduling matches for your group, the Silverbacks!

We appreciate you organizing and coordinating your three to four times-weekly golf group including the "Brothers-Bentley" Patrick, Robert, and Ray, Carson Weeks, Don Ingram, and Tom Smith. Throughout the years, five of the seven grew up together, were in school together, hunted, fished, golfed, and played sports together. We wish you and the Silverbacks many more years together at CCWH. Thank you!

Congratulations Ryan Blair for his first Hole-in-One on January 26th!

Hole #17 was the site of the first-ever hole-in-one by Ryan Blair using his 7 iron from the blue tees. Although Mrs. Blair witnessed the historic shot, she failed to record it but more than made up for it by recording his "happy dance" up to and around the hole to retrieve the ball. The Blairs support many Club events and especially enjoy playing the Couples 9 & Dine. Be sure to congratulate him when you see them on the course.

Welcome Our Newest Members

Welcome National Golf Members, Gary and Kelly Trivisonno.

A member of the PGA of America for over 25 years and a native of Ohio, Gary Trivisonno has spent over 40 years building his amazing golf resume. He has two career-low rounds of 61, holds five-course records, and was inducted into the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame and the Northern Ohio Golf Association and Northern Ohio PGA Halls of Fame. Contact him to join you and your group at GaryTrivisonno@gmail.com.

New Seasonal Golf Members,

Allen and Coleen Moore-Hayes.

The Hayes' first visit to CCWH was not to play golf but to watch golf being played by professional players at the 2017 Symetra Tour. A chance meeting on the course with spectators & members Iain Wilson and Karen Lewis gave them all the details they needed to locate the Membership Office. They plan to be here until April before returning to Cape Breton Island, NS. Contact coleen_hayes@bellaliant.net to have them join you and your group.

A Message from the General Manager

El Nino is the term for this cool, rainy, wet, and cloudy weather that we’ve had since the middle of December. The El Nino pattern caused the least amount of sunlight recorded in the month of January in 83 years, and we all know plants need sunlight.

This has added challenges for Noah DeAngelis, Golf Course Superintendent, working to maintain great conditions on the course. He is regularly adjusting his mowing plans and disease management programs based on his course observations and the weather forecasts. These are tough conditions, and he is doing an amazing job!

Let’s hope this pattern breaks soon, and we can all enjoy some additional sunshine, including the grass!

I hope to see you all at the Club real soon.

Sincerely,

Scott Scamehorn, General Manager/COO

A Message from the Membership Director

Joining our private country club is an option that is open to Winter Haven and Polk County residents and beyond. However participating, becoming a part of a group, interacting, supporting, and enjoying the process is a work in progress for some. Today, our premier golf event, the final round of the Men's Jacket Classic, will bring together men who have worked hard to fine-tune the skills required to excel and win the much sought-after navy blue blazers with our embroidered tree logo.

You are invited to be a proud spectator today and support your favorite teams -- weather permitting. And, if not today, the Golf Committee's contingency plan is to host the Shoot Out tomorrow, Monday, February 19th at 4:00PM.

See you at the Club,

Dyal Randall

A Message from the Facilities Manager

I am a huge sports fan! Baseball, Football, Hockey, Golf, Tennis, Auto Racing. I enjoy sports because they teach so many life lessons. The biggest one is teamwork. Even Golf and Tennis rely on coaches, caddies, trainers all part of that team.

I’ve only been here for six months but here at the CCWH I’m seeing a real team coming together. We have weekly Department Head meetings where we all talk about our team within the team. Our project, challenges, and successes. I’m very excited about the club future. The positive vibe is become contagious and I’m sure everyone is seeing and feeling this.

I’ll end with one of my favorite teamwork quote;

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." – Andrew Carnegie

See you around the Club,

A Message from the Superintendent

We have begun moving sand around and adding sand into all bunkers on the golf course, in preparation for all the upcoming events within the month. Over time, after raking, rain, and blowing debris out of bunkers, the sand piles up and creates uneven spots throughout. Adding a light layer of new sand also gives them a nice fresh white look. With adding sand, the bunkers will be soft but will compact after a few days. The crew and I appreciate your continued support and will continue to produce the best golf course that we can for your enjoyment.

Thank you,

Noah DeAngelis

A Message from the Director of Tennis

We have added a Beat the Pro clinic on Wednesdays from 11:30am – 12:30pm and a Topspin clinic on Thursdays from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Check the club calendar to sign up.

We are encouraging all players to sign up for events and clinics to do so through the club calendar on the website or mobile app. We have recently added a doubles strategy clinic on Thursdays @10:30am.

More pickleball is here. We have added new lines that will increase the number of our pickleball courts from 1 court to 3 courts.  Sign up for Pickleball drills on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Let's fill the courts!

Just a couple of reminders that to play on the clay courts you MUST first reserve the court in advance AND have the proper footwear. Also, the club is open to tennis on Mondays until 1pm.

For any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. My cell number is 727-647-3682. If your question pertains to Cardio Tennis, Pickleball, or Kids programs, you can also reach out to Bryan Triana at 786-298-1769.
