MARSHALL CO. BEEF BITS

Greetings! Spring is right around the corner and I don’t know about you but I’m sure ready! We hope your projects are coming along and hopefully you can all get out and show some before the county fair.

Congratulations to all those that exhibited at this year’s 2023 Iowa Beef Expo. You all did a fantastic job and represented Marshall Co. very well. Way to make us proud.

MAY is Beef Month. Plans are in the works for a fundraiser that month. More details will be coming soon.

Bottle Bucket Exhibitors! Hope you are all in the process of looking for your bottle calf for the fair. It’s certain the right time of year for this. Remember there is an ID form that must be filled out by May 15th. The form is available at the extension office and on their web site. Please give Jodi a call if you have any questions. We may try and have a bottle/bucket calf workshop in May. More information coming on this as well.

If you have any questions, please give me a call. For those of you calving we sure hope it’s going well.  Thank you. Jodi

It’s almost hopping and agility practice time! The tentative schedule is:

May 7th

May 21st

June 4th

June 11th

June 25th

July 2nd

July 9th

Practices are from 3-4 at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds. Schedule changes will be posted on the Facebook group Marshall County Youth Rabbit Club. Tattooing will be offered at both May practices. We will also go over showing questions, showmanship, general care, etc during practices as well. All exhibitor/rabbit pairs showing agility or hopping must attend at least 3 practices with the exception of pairs on their 2nd or subsequent year who may only attend 2 practices to be eligible to show in the hopping/agility classes at the fair.

We also added a costume contest this year! We are looking forward to having fun with that class this year!
