December 2016
Photo of the Month

The December Photo of the Month features our Christmas "cowolers" in the barn. As we celebrate during the holidays this month, we would like to thank all of our customers, employees and vendors for their support of our business. We are truly blessed to do what we love -- provide fresh, wholesome, delicious dairy products to the community. We especially thank our cows for working so hard throughout the year! We wish you all a Mooey Christmas and Happy Moo Year!

Cash Cow

Congrats to our $5 CA$H COW winner last month: Brendan Wood of Cedar Falls! Since no one found a $100 jug in November, there will be 10 jugs marked with $100 in December! Remember to check inside every gallon jug of white milk to see if you're a winner ... wouldn't it be great to have some extra cash during the holidays?

Every month we mark several of our gallon milk jugs with either $5 or $100 under the label. Look inside the jug toward the label to see a "5" or "100". There are 10 jugs EVERY WEEK marked with a $5.00 prize.

Fresh-cut, sustainable Christmas trees in Cedar Falls
Oneota Slopes, a sustainable tree farm near Decorah, will be selling pre-cut Christmas trees this Sunday in the Hansen's Dairy Cedar Falls parking lot at 127 E. 18th Street.

This event is ONE DAY ONLY, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.

Oneota Slopes owners, Andy and Emily Johnson, are second-generation tree farmers. They have been growing trees, cows, sheep and chickens, plus gardening, dairying (until 1990), managing woodland, and attempting to sustainably farm for 30 years.

From small table-tops to 8-foot beauties, wide or narrow, dense or open, they will have a wide selection of spruce and pine trees.
Customer of the Month
Mac Roepke and Whitney Schipper
The December Customer of the Month is Whitney Schipper of Cedar Falls.

Whitney, like many of our customers, has been answering some of our contest questions on Facebook. Every Tuesday, we post a different question about our products. If you comment, you are entered into a drawing to win a free gallon of milk!

Whitney had a great response to our question about how she and her fiance, Mac Roepke, enjoy our cheese curds.

"We LOVE to eat them right out of the bag, but our favorite way is battered at Doughy Joeys in Cedar Falls dipped in their ranch! Hansen's ice cream is also a favorite - any flavor!

Congrats to these two Cheeseheads (obviously big Packer fans!), who are getting married in early December.

Customers of the Month receive a $5 gift certificate to use at our stores and hands-on tour passes to visit the farm. Submit your entries at each  of  our stores in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. You could also be selected from your comments on Facebook.
Cow of the Month
The December Cow of the Month is Bright-RED .   She is a young cow at only 2 years old. Bright-RED's mother (Bo) is almost 12 years old, so we hope she can follow in her mom's hoofprints. Bright-RED is wonderful to work with and have around. She loves the hugs and kisses she gets from all the Hansen kids.

Bright-RED not only wins Miss Congeniality in the barn -- she could also win the beauty pageant! She is a Red-and-White Holstein with reddish-orange hair. A lot of the Red Holsteins are dark red, so her "bright red" color is amazing!
