Believe it or not, but October is here and that means the return of cold and flu season. Working in an office can mean you are inclose proximity to people and their germs. While some germs are harmless, others can wreak havoc on an office and then spread to families. To give everyone in your office the best chance at staying well this season, promote these habits throughout the workplace.
Get vaccinated! Vaccination is the most important way to prevent the spread of the flu.
Stay at home if you are sick. The CDC recommends that workers who have a fever and respiratory symptoms stay at home until 24 hours after their fever ends (100 degrees Fahrenheit [37.8 degrees Celsius] or lower), without the use of medication. Not everyone who has the flu will have a fever. Other symptoms could include a runny nose, body aches, headache, tiredness, diarrhea or vomiting.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand rub if soap and water are not available. When using soap and water, rub soapy hands together for at least 20 seconds, rinse hands with water and dry completely.
Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes. Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, or cough and sneeze into your upper sleeve(s). Throw tissues into a "no-touch" wastebasket. Be sure to clean your hands after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
Another great way to keep your workforce healthy is to have your office cleaned by professionals. Bishop Clean Care can come give you advice on what frequency and services best suit your space and needs.
A few benefits of using our services include:
All our staff uses the same disinfectant cleaner to clean most surfaces in the building. This cleaner is hospital grade and has a kill time of 10 minutes or less. It's also safe to use on multiple surfaces in the facility.
Our presence in the building ensures human contact points are cleaned daily with our disinfectant cleaner. These contact points include door handles, faucets, countertops, chairs, tables, all restroom fixtures, etc. These items might not be cleaned otherwise and some germs can live on them for more than 24 hours.
Dust is a major factor in respiratory irritation, which can lead to a more acute onset of symptoms related to the common cold. Regular cleaning keeps dust out of the air and lungs clear.
