Project Updates
A new 103,000 sq. ft. three-story Clayton County Administration Building will be located on an
18-acre parcel of land on Old Poston Road in Jonesboro. The facility will be home to several county departments including the Board of Commissioners, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Communications.
Update: The City of Jonesboro is scheduled to consider Clayton County’s request for a variance and conditional use permit to build the new Clayton County Administration Building at 9161 Old Poston Road in Jonesboro during the city council’s Feb. 5 work session. The council will make a final decision during the Feb. 12 regular meeting

New welcome signs will be strategically placed at the North, South, East, and West entrances of the county. The welcome signs will showcase the county's new brand logo to welcome and engage our citizens and visitors when entering the County, including the airport area.
Update: Seven sign locations have been established. DeNyse, the sign vendor, stated the sign drawings are in their final stages and materials are being ordered for fabrication. Installation is tentatively expected to begin in mid-March starting with Exit 71 on Interstate 85.

The Small Business Incubator will provide resources to introduce, connect, support, and expand new businesses in Clayton County to bolster the creation of jobs, investment, and economic development.
Update: Four bids were received by the county to design and build the new space. Vendor interviews with Central Services are scheduled for Jan. 26, with recommendations due on Feb. 6.

The senior center’s interior is receiving a complete renovation to include bathroom upgrades, interior lighting replacement, installing a new washer and dryer and interior wall and ceiling finishes to include wall patching and painting. A new entrance canopy with two new ADA compliant ramps for accessibility will round out the exterior renovations.
Update: Floor remediation in the front portion of the building is scheduled for Feb. 9-13 and floor installation will resume on Feb. 14. Designs for the building’s front entrance canopy are under review.

The Fleet Maintenance Expansion Project will revitalize the existing facility to include an upgrade to its electrical system, new HVAC, vehicle lifts, flooring, windows, and doors. In addition, a new oil pump system and air lines are planned as well as painting the interior and exterior of the building.
Update: Replacement of lighting throughout the building has been completed and interior painting is now in progress to include hallways, kitchen, conference room, restrooms, front office, and reception area. Plans to paint the building exterior are on hold until warmer weather arrives.

The construction of a free-standing Crisis Stabilization Unit and/or Behavioral Health Crisis Center to treat urgent or emergency psychiatric needs. Care would include stabilization services in a safe, structured manner with continuous 24-hour observation and supervision.
Update: Following a meeting with Dr. Lee Adams at Clayton Center to discuss design concepts, Planning, Design and Construction received the master plan concept design from Jericho Design Group. The plans are under review. Jericho is planning to provide 100% Construction Documents by May 26.

This project consist of constructing an asphalt ADA accessible walking trail from Plantation Parkway crossing over Harbour Town Parkway continuing to Harbour Lake Drive cul-de-sac through 16.32 acres.
Update: The general contractor has discovered several portions of the recently paved trail does not comply The Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. As a result, six sections will need to be removed and repaved to guideline requirements. Officials with Building and Maintenance are working with the vendor to make repairs as well as established a revised work timeline. The cold weather this month has halted additional paving for now.

Renovations of the VIP Complex at International Park integrate outdoor spaces while maintaining a multi-functional facility for arts and entertainment. Other enhancements include additional covered seating, event administrative space, dressing rooms, additional concessions, re-design of restrooms, backstage facilities, and vendor kiosks.

The new Winter Weather Supply and Storage Building will be located behind the Clayton County Jail on Post Way in Jonesboro. The facility will be used to store approximately 14 days of cold weather material such as salt, sand, and gravel. In addition, it will serve as storage for a salt brine maker and brine solution and house snowplows and spreaders.
Update: Central Services is hosting a pre-proposal conference on Feb. 15 and a pre-bid visit on Feb. 22 prior to resubmitting a request for bids from vendors.

Clayton County Tennis Courts
Tennis courts at the International Park Tennis Center, Gerald Matthews Tennis Complex, Independence Park and Flat Shoals Park will be resurfaced with new fencing and landscaping installed. The $1.16 million project is estimated to eight to 10 months to complete. 
Update: Signature Tennis Courts Inc. has started removing the fencing and posts around the tennis courts as well as pulling up existing asphalt at the Clayton County Tennis Center. Repaving is set to begin in early March. Demo and repaving at Lovejoy Regional Park, Independence Park and Flat Shoals Park is project to start on April 29.

Clayton County Fire Station No. 1 Replacement
The new Fire Station No. 1 will be a replacement facility for the existing Fire Station No. 1 in Riverdale.
Update: Review of the building plans by Community Development is complete and have been approved. Staff is currently awaiting feedback from the Clayton County Water Authority document review to move forward.

Clayton County Fire Station No. 2 Replacement
The new Fire Station No. 2 will be a replacement facility for the existing Fire Station No. 2 in Rex.
Update: An adjustment to the initial design is necessary to accommodate Clayton County Water Authority stormwater requirements. POND & Company architectural firm has provided Planning, Design and Construction with plans to construct an underground storm water detention pond. Cost estimates are to be received by Jan. 26.
