School year begins with Employee Giving

The campus is bustling with the presence of faculty, staff and students, excited for the start of a promising fall semester. Come Monday, August 12, classes will be back in session!

Oxnard College employees are marking the start of the new year with a drive to raise funds for student scholarships and campus programs.

The commitment of the OC faculty and staff is absolutely inspiring. This new campaign - a first effort in recent history - will focus on increasing the financial support for our students from last year, which set a record in employee giving.

Reconnecting with OC Alumni

We're Calling all Condor Alumni to reconnect with the Oxnard College family. The strength of our local community and communities throughout the world are due to the commitment and impact of forty-nine years worth of OC graduates.

We're on a quest to hear their impressive stories. Their family, community, educational, and professional journeys will inspire current and future OC students to follow in their footsteps.

If you're a past student or know of one, we want to capture what alumni doing these days. A number of our past students will receive a postcard in the mail soon, but we don't have records for all Oxnard College alumni. That's how you can help the charge!

Metallica is rocking the trades again this year!

The 2023/2024 academic year launched a new workforce education initiative, created by rock band Metallica’s Foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH). Oxnard College was selected for a Metallica Scholars grant to support students in Fire Technology, Culinary Arts, and Dental Hygiene. Metallica Scholars is a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs.

Noting the positive results generated from its initial donation, Metallica's foundation is contributing $50k this year - hoping to make an even bigger impact on student success with additional donations from the OC community.

All Metallica Scholars donations provide scholarships for students enrolled in three of our distinguished career programs, who need financial assistance to complete their studies and become licensed professionals.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Deadline to create a new scholarship grant is September 15

As volunteers are currently reviewing and selecting scholarship grant recipients for the 2024/2025 school year, we're already making plans for the next round of scholarships.

Scholarship grants change lives in extraordinary ways. Students seeking meaningful and productive futures rely upon financial assistance to get into the classroom, absorb high quality education, then pursue further education and obtain desirable employment. The vast majority of our 7,000+ students qualify for financial aid. All of them are eligible for scholarship grant support.

Anyone can create a scholarship grant fund through the partnership with the Oxnard College Foundation to financially support our students. If you would like to make a life-altering change for an OC student, the deadline to create a scholarship grant fund for the 2025-26 is Sunday, September 15. Contact Pete Parker in the Foundation office for details.
