Craig Cunningham, of Wells Fargo Advisors, discussed his background in both the law and financial planning. We discussed the three components of the contract:  the offer, acceptance and consideration. Next, students created a class contract with rules, roles and expectations.

Wendall and Carol Adams are always the first entrepreneurs to discuss their business and expansion with ClassE. Wendall started in the business when he was young and saw opportunity in the industry. He worked constantly to raise money to build his business. He has 

expanded into other industry sectors, including real estate. 

Kevin gave  a tour of the  facility where they cut and engrave granite and marble that comes from the United States and now China. They now offer more products dealing with cremations to keep up with the new trends in the industry. They also offer countertops, golf signage, etc.

Bill Lair, former editor and historian for the Journal Gazette-Times Courier, shared stories on the history of Coles County and successful entrepreneurs that started here. From Charles Morton to Jimmy John Liataud, Coles County has had its share of great beginnings. You can be successful anywhere and necessity definitely is the mother of invention. 

Believe it or not, we are all wired differently - some prefer facts, figures and order while others prefer testimonials, the big picture and illustrations. Each color represents a quadrant of the brain and the students discovered  their thinking preferences. Ask your students what the hats and bandannas represent.

The lesson is to have students communicate with others that make sense to them and see the world with multi-colored filters. We have many entrepreneurial minds in our class, but we need to learn empathy and appreciate facts and figures to be successful.
