CPESN ® Pharmacies and Local Network Leadership:

Welcome to CPESN U.  These informational emails are designed to help you better understand CPESN USA and certain aspects of the pharmacy industry.

Today’s CPESN U is focused on the upcoming deadline to submit a Care Plan by June 30th. Several CPESN pharmacies are questioning the need to conduct care planning in the absence of reimbursement.

We believe Care Plan documentation equals better workflow!

Improved Care Plan Documentation = Better Workflow

Watch this short video from pharmacy owner Joe Moose demonstrating the life of a community-based pharmacist without documenting care plans.
Here are a few key reasons for implementing care plan documentation:

Reason #1 - Realizing workflow efficiencies in your pharmacy
This includes your ability to:
  • Decrease the number of interruptions a productive staff member receives
  • Improve patient care coordination amongst entire staff (this includes decreasing the number of misses that impact a patient who is standing in front of you)
  • Increase the quantity of time you have available to provide patient care by documenting a care plan versus tracking down staff members to help understand the full problem

Reason #2 - Increasing the likelihood of securing a a new payer opportunity or continuing an existing payer opportunity

  • Stay tuned for the next edition of CPESN U (out on June 26th) to learn more about the reasons why adopting care plan documentation is so important.

If you have not submitted a care plan yet, please submit a care plan by June 30, 2019.

How do I submit a care plan? Follow Track 1 after determining if your pharmacy has submitted a care plan ( Track 1 is intended for pharmacies who have not submitted a care plan ).

Determining if your pharmacy has submitted a care plan:

We now have 578 pharmacies that have submitted a care plan, 27% of our participating pharmacies! Way to go!

Click  here to see the list of  578 CPESN pharmacies  who have submitted a care plan based on our criteria, in numerical order by NPI number ( this list was updated June 11, 2019 ).

If you believe your pharmacy submitted an eCare Plan, but don't see your NPI listed above, please complete this short webform (click here ) and we will research your submission in collaboration with your technology vendor.
Track 1
Track 1 is focused on submitting a care plan that is as simple as possible. This can be accomplished by submitting the  sample care plan components exactly as shown in the document. The sample care plan is meant to be submitted by a CPESN pharmacy staff member outside of workflow, so that you’re not having a disruption in workflow as you submit a care plan for the first time.

The goal of Track 1 is to help you submit one care plan.
