Spring Greetings, Christy,
As we gracefully enter our 38th year of business, infused with the vitality of spring, our unwavering commitment propels us to exceed the successes of yesteryears. We now cast our gaze towards the future with eager anticipation. Paramount to this is to also reflect upon our present achievements, deriving motivation and fortitude from the milestones we have accomplished.
Our recent Derby Day celebration at Santa Anita Racetrack was a testament to our enduring commitment to excellence and teamwork. It was a joyous occasion filled with thrilling races, delectable food, and cherished moments shared with clients, employees, and their families. This annual event serves as a reminder of how our Civiltec family has blossomed over the years while honoring our rich history. Before the day, several of our team put their best foot forward with the track's annual 5k race. That is not all that our teams have stepped up to this spring. We started the year with our annual step challenge with 60% participation companywide we amassed 5,042,893 steps. We achieved our goal of beating last year's steps and gaining happy, healthy, and involved employees at the start of the year. Speaking of involvement, we were named A Great Place to Work (GPW) for the third year in a row.
These GPW employees also tested their structural know-how during National Engineering Week. Our offices enjoyed a fun engineering activity of building a load-bearing table out of newspaper. Sanjay Verma, PE our structural lead also tested his skills and became dual-certified in both Arizona and California. His skill set is ready to benefit the structural integrity of projects and spring our engineering services to include more offerings to our clients.
Our employees are the pillar stone as to how we can provide our clients with continuous and reliable service and quality project outcomes. We are pleased to watch as they grow and develop alongside Civiltec. Doug Terrill, EIT, a designer within our Phoenix office celebrated 10 years with the company. His attention to detail while leading our conflict review department and designing plans has been pivotal in producing quality plans for clients. With spring also came a time for a fond farewell to Richard Aldridge, PE, MBA, upon his well-deserved retirement, we thanked him for his years of dedication and leadership.
In addition to our festive celebrations, we are proud to highlight some significant achievements and projects from the past quarter. Our backlog continues to grow, and we are excited about the 85 new projects we have won this quarter. The completion of the Basset Reservoir Recoating Project and the Tesoro Highlands reservoirs underscores our dedication to delivering top-notch solutions that meet and exceed expectations.
