Skrillex, Juneteenth, Pride & More: Civic Center Welcomed the Crowds

A surprise rave from Another Planet Entertainment and SF Rec & Park took over Civic Center Plaza on the first day of June, featuring popular DJs Skrillex and Fred Again. The fun party atmosphere of the sold out show popped up in photos and videos across social media, and has lots of people asking when will this happen again?

Following this, Civic Center Plaza continued to host the crowds at events such as the Juneteenth Festival, which featured live music, food and vendors; and the 53rd Annual SF PRIDE Civic Center Celebration, which featured even more music, food and fun!

Great one-off events at Futon Plaza and UN Plaza, like the Psyched! Radio Show, Rae Studios special Sunday Boombox event, Anti-Prom, Bay Area Skate Fest and SFLive, rounded out the calendar alongside ongoing series such as Chess & Mahjong Lessons, Civic Center Soundtrack, Heart of the City Farmers Market and Hip Hop on the Plaza. What a quarter for Civic Center events!

New Rules for Some Corner Stores to improve Neighborhood Safety

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution requiring convenience stores in a heavy drug dealing zone to shutter during dangerous late night and early morning hours. Stores within the initial boundaries, established by the community, law enforcement and public health officials, will close between midnight and 5am. Stores with a liquor license can remain open until 2am. The move aims to improve neighborhood and employee safety, reduce the number of calls for emergency service, and to halt the proliferation of unpermitted stores popping up to serve illegal activity.
