City of Vacaville Announces Road Closure at Hawkins Road and Leisure Town Road
VACAVILLE, Calif. – Beginning August 16, 2024, Hawkins Road at Leisure Town Road will be closed for the Jepson Parkway Phase 2 Project construction.
Vehicles should avoid Hawkins Road near Leisure Town Road and use posted detour routes instead. The closure is scheduled for approximately 13 weeks.
Detour routes during Hawkins Road closure:
- Traveling north on Leisure Town Road
- Turn right on Elmira Road, left on California Pacific Road, and right on Hawkins Road.
- Traveling south on Leisure Town Road
- Turn left on Elmira Road, left on California Pacific Road, and right on Hawkins Road.
- Traveling north on California Pacific Road
- Turn right on Hawkins Road, right on Lewis Road, right on Fry Road, and right on Leisure Town Road.
- Traveling West from Hawkins Road
- Turn left on Lewis Road, right on Fry Road, and right on Leisure Town Road.
Other related construction is also underway between Commerce Place north towards The Mission Church. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution near construction.
Mitigated impacts:
- Businesses along Leisure Town Road will be open during construction.
- Road access will be maintained to businesses and the surrounding residential communities.
- The City sent more than 5,000 mailers to residents and businesses along the Leisure Town Corridor, and notified Travis Air Force Base Public Affairs.
- The City’s consultant, KMP Strategies, visited approximately 35 businesses in the Commerce Place and Union Way Area, and 13 homes who back to the construction.
Once complete, Vacaville and Solano County residents will have an improved intra-county throughway with an end goal of reduced congestion from Interstate 80. Major roadway improvements will:
- Develop a safe, efficient transportation network for the movement of people and goods within Solano County;
- Protect residents living adjacent to roadways from the impacts of existing and anticipated traffic levels using landscaping and noise buffers;
- Provide interconnected traffic signals using advanced transportation methods at major junctions to improve access and safety;
- Provide efficient City streets to serve local trips that currently require using Interstate 80;
- Improve emergency vehicle access and transit services; and
- Increase transit support and enhance pedestrian, motorist, and transit user safety.
