STCU Kids Scavenger Hunt

STCU Kids Scavenger Hunt is back. Kids use a passport to look for hidden figures at 25 downtown businesses with secret codes on them. Once ten figures are found, they turn in their passport for a personal prize and family pack prize drawing. Download your kid's passport here.

Full-City Plow Near Completion

The Full-City plow covering 2,200 lane miles utilizing personnel from both streets and water and wastewater departments is expected to be completed tonight, Dec. 13. Snow crews will continue to clean up areas that need additional work. Residents who note that their block was missed by plows can call 3-1-1 to report it.

Comments Accepted On HOME-ARP Draft Plan

The City’s Community Health and Human Services Department is accepting public comments through Friday, Jan. 6, on the draft HOME-American Rescue Plan. Comments on the draft plan can be made at spokanechhs@spokanecity.org or 509-625-6325. After HUD approves the plan, a request for proposals will be publicly posted for 30 days before the start of the City’s proposal review and approval process.

Affordable Housing Proposals Sought

The City’s Community, Housing and Human Services Department is accepting proposals through Monday, Jan. 16, for $10 million in funding for affordable housing projects. The intent of the Notice of Funding Availability is to rapidly acquire, or rehabilitate existing properties that will add and/or preserve units affordable housing units. Click here to apply.

Resident Assistance

The impacts of COVID have created hardships for people in many ways. The City continues to connect residents with available and eligible resources.


Utility Assistance

There are Resident Assistance programs for emergency help to pay for City utility bills, which include charges for water, wastewater, stormwater and garbage collection. Interest-free payment plans are also available for residential and commercial customers.

The City of Spokane is a great place to combine community support with expertise. There are more than 30 boards, commissions and committees made up of volunteers who help shape our community. If you have one day a year, or one day a week, there is an opportunity for you. Pick your passion and get involved!

Salvation Army Needs Bellringers

The Salvation Army is seeking more than 100 individuals, age 18 or older, who can ring a bell this holiday season as an employee or volunteer. Full-time or part-time positions are available. 


The red kettle drive not only benefits the community during Christmas, but it also helps with our more than 45 weekly services and programs that provide a hand-up to children and families during the year. 


Interested bellringers can apply in person Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 222 E. Indiana Avenue or call Lt. Ashley Cunningham at 509-329-2759.

Autumn Adventures: Story Time at the Carrousel

On the Bright Side

The Don Kardong pedestrian bridge, connecting the University District and the surrounding area with downtown, will reopen on Friday, Dec. 16 after undergoing an extensive renovation. The project finishes ahead of schedule and within budget. Click here to learn more!
