Clean California Ribbon Cutting to Open Renovated Main Beach Restroom

Renovations with Public Art and ADA Upgrades

In partnership with the California Department of Transportation, the City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Main Beach public restrooms at 120 Beach Street on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

The Main Beach Restroom renovation project, funded by the Clean California program led by Caltrans and the Parks and Recreation Facilities Tax, increases ADA accessibility, provides cleaner restrooms, and upgrades site furnishings. The building features a collection of three tile mosaic wall murals titled Pacific Dream by local artist Taylor Reinhold. The art project was supported by the City Arts Recovery Design (CARD) Pilot Grant Program.

This $1 million project was made possible by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Clean California program, a historic, $1.2 billion, multi-year clean-up effort led by Caltrans to remove trash, create thousands of jobs, reclaim, transform, and beautify public spaces, and engage and educate communities.

Tsunami Band Makes Waves at Tuesday Night Live Concert

The last Tuesday Night Live Concert at the Santa Cruz Wharf was an unforgettable experience. With perfect weather and the scenic backdrop of Streamer’s Lane, the evening was set for a remarkable event. Wharf tenants provided delicious food and drinks, and boats moored off the Wharf provided a picturesque view.

The Tsunami Band headlined the concert, which featured classic hits like “Summer of '69” and “Go Your Own Way.” The band's powerful vocals, tight instrumentation, and engaging audience interaction created a dynamic and immersive atmosphere. Everyone was singing and dancing, making it a night to remember!
