City of Rosenberg Awarded $4,121,300 Grant For Fire Station #1 Renovation and Expansion

The City of Rosenberg has been awarded $4,121,300 in Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funding for Fire Station #1 renovations and expansion. The grant was provided by the Texas General Land Office (GLO), who provides grants to states, cities, and counties to develop viable communities.

Seeking this grant is part of the City's ongoing dedication to funding infrastructure improvements and revitalizations across Rosenberg. By proactively researching grant opportunities, the City is able to fund these large improvements without raising taxes. The total estimated cost of the design and construction is about $5.4 million and will include renovations to both the interior and exterior of the fire station as well as an expansion.

“Fire Station #1 was built in 1952, so as you can imagine, improvements are desperately needed,” said Fire Chief Daryl Maretka. “Some of our modern-day apparatus will not fit in the current bays.” City Manager John Maresh added, “These improvements will not only transform the fire station inside and out but will transform 4th Street as the station is located between the busy avenues of H and I. This will be a welcome visual update to our City’s landscape. We are thankful to the GLO’s support and for providing us the opportunity to renovate and expand our City’s historic station.”
