SmartGov Public Portal Launched for Land-Use Applications and Permits
|
The City is excited to offer citizens access to project data on the web 24/7 with the recently launched Public Portal feature of SMARTGov.
The online public portal feature allows the public to track the progress of land use applications, apply for land use permits, schedule inspections, and pay fees online. Soon, the code enforcement and licensing modules will go live, and allow citizens to file complaints, or apply for specialty licenses completely online. These features are a part of the SMARTGov system, a web-based, software application developed by Poulsbo-based Paladin Data Systems.
The Public Portal is available through the City of Poulsbo's
website. If you have any questions, please
email City staff.

Mayor Becky Erickson announced that as part of the 13-year nationwide commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, she will proclaim May 7, 2017, as Welcome Home Day for Poulsbo's Vietnam Veterans at the May 3, 2017, Poulsbo Council meeting.
In addition to the proclamation, Poulsbo American Legion Post 245 is inviting any Vietnam War veterans to come to their service office in May, where coffee and cookies will be available, as well as a set of materials from the federal government (recognition certificates, special bumper stickers, lapel pins, etc.) will be presented to any Vietnam War veteran. The office is located at 19068 Jensen Way NE, and will be open on all Thursdays in May between 10am and 3pm.
Councilmember Thomas will also be at City Hall on Sunday, May 7, 2017, to shake hands and personally thank any Vietnam War veteran that hears about the proclamation, and will have donuts available for those who can stop by. Councilmember Thomas said, "he encourages citizens to join him on Sunday at City hall and hopes business owners will put up 'Welcome Home, Vietnam War Vets' signs in their business windows."

Education is a Silver Bullet
|
The Herald called Poulsbo, "The epicenter of education in the peninsulas." While I am proud of Poulsbo's 'emergence as an epicenter of education,' I am more proud of what this emergence is doing for all of Kitsap and our region. Yes, this educational expansion is for Poulsbo, but it is also for Mason, Jefferson and Clallam counties. It is regional. But most importantly, it is for our children and grandchildren.
Education is the silver bullet. It is the pathway to healthy families, healthy communities, and a healthy economy. I am so thankful for our local educators, from pre-school to advanced programs.
Olympic College has long been a keystone to our economic health and quality of life. With Western Washington University's growth, both institutions have found opportunities to work together and offer more, diverse, important educational opportunities for our residents.
Bravo to Western Washington University and Olympic College, a partnership that benefits our entire region.
