Caribbean American Heritage Festival


The Countdown begins! The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is hosting a Caribbean-American Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 6 pm-10 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. This family-friendly event will feature live music, performances; lectures, workshops and crafts at The Frank Art Gallery, as well as a showcase of food and goods (see schedule above). Bring your own lawn chairs for comfortable seating. Baseball Fun with Playball 2024

Playball 2024, being held this year on July 12 from 10 am to 12 Noon, is a great summer event for children who love baseball. The Recreation and Cultural Arts Department hosts the Mayor’s Play Ball Summer event each year in conjunction with the United State Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Major League Baseball. The event will be held at Flamingo Park, located at 1900 NW 122 Terrace. This free event, which promotes youth baseball and softball, will feature fun activities, music and food.

 

There will be a Pitch, Hit, Run event with separate age divisions, as well as divisions for Beginners and Advanced players. Boys and girls ages 7 to 14 will be given the option of using baseball or softball equipment.  

Targeting Safety -- The Pembroke Pines Police Department invites all ages to to a free community policing event with coffee and treats provided by Target and Starbucks on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Target located at 11253 Pines Blvd. from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.


Youth Fall Soccer Program -- Registration is now open for the City of Pembroke Pines Youth Fall Soccer program, taking place September 3 through November 9, 2024. The cost is $140 for Pembroke Pines residents and $205 for Non-residents. The program, held at West Pines Soccer Park, located at 350 SW 196 Ave., features skills and ball techniques, and footwork exercises. For more information, please call 954-743-1810 or email Rnunez@ppines.com. For registration information, please visit www.ppines.com/soccer.

Swim Lessons -- The City of Pembroke Pines offers swimming lessons for people of all ages at the Towngate Pool located at 901 NW 155th Avenue. Pre-registration is required, and classes are limited to eight students. Registration hours are Monday - Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Towngate. Class space is very limited for the summer lessons. 

 

Registration for the Fall classes begins on July 8, 2024. They will be offered evenings only starting in August and will run through September.  Please call the Towngate office at 954-450-6895 for availability and further information.
