City Seeking Additional Adopt-A-Roadway Program Sponsors

The City of Mequon Adopt-A-Roadway Program is designed to encourage and recognize local groups, (e.g., schools, scout troops, churches, businesses, civic organizations, families, etc.) to “adopt” a two-to-three-mile section of Mequon’s local roadway. The program offers groups the opportunity to contribute to the community by picking up roadside litter while generating positive publicity for the group’s service activities. To learn more about the City’s Adopt-A-Roadway Program and roads available for adoption, please click here.

For additional information or to adopt a roadway, please contact Tim Weyker, Deputy Director of Public Works, at 262-236-8145 / tweyker@ci.mequon.wi.us

Mayor Joins Public Works Staff for a Ride Along

Mayor Nerbun experienced first-hand what it takes to keep Mequon roads clear and safe during Thursday’s winter storm. The Mayor rode in a snowplow with Joe Grube who has been with the City for 20 years. The Mayor learned about the planning and coordination needed to stay on track of the constantly changing road conditions occurring throughout the day and into the night. Mayor Nerbun said, “it’s not as straight forward as just hitting the roads and plowing streets.”  Technology is used with road and air temperature sensors to control feed rates for the salt and brine solution that is then applied. Thank you to all the Public Works employees for your hard work on Thursday and every day!
