Rogers Bridge pedestrian crossing now open
|
The new Rogers Bridge provides a connection across the Chattahoochee River from Johns Creek’s newest park, Cauley Creek, to Rogers Park in Duluth / Gwinnett County.
The Rogers Bridge replacement project included disassembling and removing the former steel bridge structure. The replacement is a replica of the former bridge and is accessible by one of the City’s latest innovative park projects, the Cauley Creek Park 5K rubberized trail. As one of the first in the southeast, the 3.1-mile trail is another example of how our community is a leader for health, wellness, and innovation.
Mayor John Bradberry, Mayor Pro Tem Stacy Skinner, and City Council members Dilip Tunki, Larry DiBiase, and Chris Coughlin joined representatives of Fulton County, City of Duluth, Gwinnett County, and various project partners to celebrate the grand opening of the bridge in July.

Construction Project Progress
|
Construction Project Progress: Crews continue work on important improvements in the city.
-
Taylor Road Left Turn Lane: When students head back to Chattahoochee High School on Monday, they’ll find a new left turn lane has been installed on Taylor Road. Since the groundbreaking in June, the City has worked diligently to get the project done for the start of school. The Taylor Road left turn lane project is important because by adding the capacity to queue vehicles, it removes turning vehicles from the travel lanes and relieves congestion for residents that live in the neighborhoods off Taylor Road who had been getting stuck in traffic behind students waiting to turn into school.
-
Brumbelow Road HAWK Beacon: The High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) beacon project on Brumbelow Road will provide a safe, signalized, mid-block pedestrian crossing from the Mount Pisgah Athletic Campus to Newtown Park. It includes a new mast arm pole with overhead beacons, pedestrian-activated push buttons and ADA-compliant ramps on both sides of the road, as well as a pedestrian path to provide access from the ramps and sidewalk to the park trail. The ramps, pedestrian path, and pole foundation have been installed and the pole will be delivered and installed in the next few weeks.
-
Haynes Bridge Road at Old Alabama Road: All waterline work has been completed and final utilities have been relocated. Crews continue sidewalk construction, project site cleanup, and grading work. Traffic signal upgrades and installation will begin so motorists can expect some minor traffic delays. Asphalt paving will begin in early August and take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
-
Johns Creek Parkway at Medlock Bridge Road: Crews have cleared and graded along Medlock Bridge Road for the intersection improvement project, which includes a sidewalk connection along the east side of Medlock Bridge from Bell Road to Johns Creek Parkway. The intersection project also includes the addition of a through right-turn lane from northbound Medlock Bridge Road onto eastbound Johns Creek Parkway. The intersection serves as one of entry points into the Johns Creek Town Center area.
