Remembering Former Mayor Joseph Page
It was announced that former City of College Park Mayor, Joseph "Joe" Page passed away at the age of 97 on July 9, 2018.

Joe Page was the City’s Mayor from 1993 to 1997, a District 2 City Councilmember from 1985 to 1991 and a District 3 Councilmember from 1991 to 1993 . During his time with the City, he is most noted for founding the original Local Development Corporation that later became the College Park City-University Partnership, helping form the Neighborhood Watch Committee (1994), working with the County and the University to help ameliorate issues with rental homes and noise complaints, and creating a sister-city relationship with Liaohe, China in the Manchurian region.

Prior to his work as Mayor and Councilmember for the City, Joe was a decorated officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Joe served for 26 years, including in World War II, the Korean War, the outside combat zone during the Vietnam War and in Europe and West Africa with Cold War assignments. He also served as the Chief Administrator of Planning and Services for the Baltimore Urban Renovation Housing Agency from 1967 to 1986.

Husband to the late Mrs. Olga Jane Page, father of three, grandfather of three and great-grandfather of three, we thank and remember Joe Page for his service to the City and the community, and send our condolences to his family.

Mosquito Control
  • The City of College Park cooperates with the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) to identify and control mosquito populations. Larviciding treatments are made by MDA personnel to known areas of standing water to control mosquito larva that will prevent development into adult mosquitoes. Spraying to control adult mosquitoes will continue through September. Wednesday night is the designated day when spraying for adult mosquitoes may occur in College Park. MDA doesn’t spray individual properties; they treat neighborhoods that meet certain thresholds.
  • MDA has initiated a new mosquito complaint procedure; click here to provide your information.
